I watched the show back in high school. It spoke to me. It shouted at me. I still wasted away and never took advantage of the opportunities right in front of me.

I've always enjoyed the translations of Emily Balistrieri. They're incredibly talented. People often try learn more about an author so they can understand where the author is are coming from. I don't think people can truly appreciate Mishima without knowing more about him as a person. Does that extend to translators? I've never heard of someone else doing it, so I've never done it. I feel like a creep whenever I have that thought.

I don't know why I find myself so attracted to the grotesque. Revolting material filled with sex and perversion. I seek out things that make me feel disgusted. Part of it is the comparison: I feel like a better person than these fictional characters and that provides me temporary relief. I don't know if that's the entire reason I read them. I worry about that sometimes.
